Utah’s mountain regions are gearing up for significant snowfall as a potent winter storm moves into the state, potentially affecting Thanksgiving travel plans.

Winter storm warnings and advisories are in effect for the Wasatch, Uinta, and other mountain ranges, with projections of 1 to 3 feet of snow between Monday and Wednesday evening. While higher elevations will see heavy snow, most valley areas will experience rain.

The storm’s arrival is expected to bring widespread precipitation, with heavier rain and snow impacting areas from central to northern Utah.

This storm is forecast to bring a combination of rain and snow across the state, with the heaviest precipitation occurring on Tuesday and Wednesday, possibly disrupting pre-holiday travel.

Snowfall may lead to difficult driving conditions, especially in mountain passes and high-elevation areas. The Utah Department of Transportation has issued a travel alert for Monday evening through Wednesday, advising caution on mountain routes and warning of potential delays on I-15.

The Thanksgiving holiday itself is expected to be dry, with cooler temperatures in the 30s and 40s along the Wasatch Front, and in the 50s in southern Utah. The storm should clear by Thursday, but travelers are advised to monitor weather and road conditions for any lingering effects.
