Donald Trump returned to Georgia for his first campaign stop since his previous tensions with Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, who did not attend the rally in Savannah.

Kemp was instead fundraising for other Republican efforts, including supporting Pennsylvania Senate candidate Dave McCormick and attending a donor retreat hosted by Mike Pence’s political nonprofit, Advancing American Freedom.

The relationship between Trump and Kemp has been strained, but recent events suggest a shift toward a truce.

Despite Kemp’s absence, Trump praised him during the rally, thanking him for his support in Georgia, a crucial swing state.

Allies of both men had reportedly worked to ease tensions, especially with Trump focused on securing Georgia for the upcoming election.

Kemp, meanwhile, has maintained his commitment to supporting Republican candidates, attending a fundraiser for Trump in Atlanta in late August.

Although he has not fully endorsed Trump, Kemp publicly stated he would work to elect the GOP’s presidential nominee, continuing to balance his role within the party without full alignment with Trump.
