Tommy Tuberville, who currently represents Alabama in the U.S. Senate, has confirmed his intention to run for re-election in 2026.
Tuberville, who won his seat in 2020 after defeating incumbent Doug Jones, expressed his enthusiasm for serving in the Senate, although he acknowledged he may not run many more times.
Known for his previous tenure as head coach of the Auburn Tigers football team, Tuberville has been a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump.
He notably held up military promotions for nearly a year in protest of Biden administration policies on abortion.
Tuberville has also spoken about the prospects of working with President Trump during his second term, emphasizing the opportunities that would come with Republicans taking the majority.
The next election for his seat will take place on November 3, 2026.
