Sundance Head, the 2016 winner of The Voice, is recovering after accidentally shooting himself at his Texas ranch.
According to People, the 46-year-old was hunting alone on Friday when his .22-caliber firearm discharged, hitting him in the stomach. Head was airlifted to a hospital, but fortunately, no internal organs were damaged.
His wife shared an update on Facebook, expressing gratitude: Prayers answered as no internal damage was done by the bullet. Thank you all for the prayers.
She clarified that the accident occurred when Head reached into his Jeep to grab the gun, which slipped from its holster, struck the vehicle, and discharged.
The bullet entered above his navel and became lodged in fatty tissue, avoiding vital organs.
Head was forced to flag down a car for help as he had no phone. Doctors decided not to remove the bullet, and surgery won’t be required.
Head’s wife added, Him being on the bigger side was a good thing. The bullet is in his fatty tissue.
Sundance Head was mentored by Blake Shelton during his time on The Voice.
