Rick Perry, former Texas Governor and Trump administration energy secretary, has sharply criticized the Biden-Harris administration’s energy policies.

In a recent interview, he argued that halting projects like the Keystone XL pipeline and restricting energy exploration in Alaska undermine U.S. energy security, potentially reversing decades of progress toward energy independence.

Perry emphasized the importance of controlling domestic energy resources to avoid a return to reliance on foreign oil, recalling the gas shortages of the past.

He accused the current administration of prioritizing environmental concerns over national security and economic growth, suggesting that actions taken by the Biden administration like canceling the Keystone XL pipeline on his first day in office and lifting sanctions on Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline send negative signals about U.S. energy policy.

He advocated for investing in infrastructure such as pipelines, asserting that this would not only create jobs but also enhance energy security for the U.S. and its allies, reducing reliance on adversarial nations like Russia and China.

Perry also criticized the administration’s moves to block energy exploration in Alaska, claiming these decisions harm local economies and benefit foreign competitors.

Perry concluded by labeling the current energy policy approach as detrimental to human prosperity, arguing that it favors a select few while disregarding the needs of those reliant on fossil fuels for their livelihoods.
