LL Flooring, previously known as Lumber Liquidators, announced last week that it will close all 400 of its stores nationwide after filing for bankruptcy in August.
In the Kansas City area, there are three LL Flooring stores: one at 300 N.E. 291 Highway in Lee’s Summit, another at 9800 Quivira Road in Lenexa, and one at 2618 N.E. Vivion Road in the Northland.
The Northland store has already started its closing sale, and an employee said it would shut down by the end of September.
An employee in Lenexa mentioned that the store’s closing date is uncertain, possibly in a few months.
In Lee’s Summit, an employee said they hadn’t received confirmation about closing. “We are staying open unless told otherwise.”
On Monday, LL Flooring announced a last-minute agreement with a private equity firm led by Thomas Sullivan, who founded Lumber Liquidators in 1994. The deal, which needs approval from the bankruptcy court, would keep about half of the stores open. It’s still unclear how this will affect the Lenexa or Lee’s Summit stores.
