Morgan Geyser, now 22, is once again seeking her release from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute after being committed for the infamous 2014 stabbing of a classmate.
The incident was part of an attempt to appease the fictional horror figure Slender Man. This marks her third petition in two years to Waukesha County Circuit Judge Michael Bohren.
Geyser initially filed for release in 2022 but withdrew her petition two months later. Her second request in April 2023 was denied by Judge Bohren, who expressed concerns that she remained a danger to the public.
The latest petition, which is brief and devoid of any detailed arguments, references Wisconsin state laws. It asks the judge to appoint an expert within 20 days to evaluate Geyser, with a report due 30 days thereafter.
The petition also requests a hearing, as required by law.
In 2014, Geyser, along with Anissa Weier, lured their classmate into the woods and stabbed her multiple times, believing it would appease Slender Man.
The victim survived the attack, and both Geyser and Weier were placed in psychiatric care following their trials. Weier was released in 2021 under community supervision after being found no longer a threat to the public.
The court’s decision will hinge on expert evaluations and whether Geyser is deemed to have recovered sufficiently to be released safely.
