Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves made his professional auto racing debut on Saturday at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Known for his role in “The Matrix,” Reeves qualified 31st out of 35 cars and reached as high as 21st before a single-car crash midway through the 45-minute race briefly set him back.
The 60-year-old spun off into the grass on Turn 9 with about 21 minutes remaining. Fortunately, there was no collision, and he re-entered the race unharmed.
Reeves finished in 25th place.
He’s competing in the Toyota GR Cup, a spec-racing series supporting the Indy 8 Hour sports car event, and will have a second race on Sunday. Driving the No. 92 BRZRKR car, he’s promoting his graphic novel, “The Book of Elsewhere,” alongside teammate Cody Jones from “Dude Perfect.”
Reeves has some prior racing experience, having participated in the celebrity race at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, which he won in 2009.
