HELENA, MONT. KUMV — Governor Greg Gianforte announced on Friday that Montana will be aiding Georgia in its recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene.

The State of Montana is sending an incident management team to Georgia to support the response to Hurricane Helene, Gov. Gianforte stated. Please join me and Susan in praying for everyone affected by the hurricane and for the safety of our personnel.

Montana has dispatched a Type 3 Incident Management Team IMT to Macon, Georgia, a region that suffered significant damage, including the destruction of its Emergency Operations Center.

The nine-member team, led by Ken Parks from Missoula Disaster and Emergency Services, began its 15-day deployment on Friday. Their roles will include planning, resource management, and public information support.

This assistance was requested through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact EMAC, which enables states to share resources and receive reimbursement during disasters declared by governors. The Montana Disaster and Emergency Services is overseeing the deployment.
