Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has requested that Elon Musk remove a fake video from X formerly Twitter that falsely depicts a Haitian immigrant voting multiple times.

Raffensperger described the video as false and a clear example of targeted disinformation that has been prevalent in elections.

He mentioned that Georgia election security officials are collaborating with federal authorities to trace the video’s origins, suggesting it might be linked to Russian troll farms.

Musk had not publicly responded to the request as of Thursday night. Raffensperger emphasized the importance of not allowing foreign interference to cause discord ahead of the upcoming elections, urging Americans to resist letting lies undermine trust in their institutions and one another.

This incident follows heightened scrutiny and online rumors surrounding Haitian immigrant communities, particularly in light of previous comments made by former President Donald Trump during a debate, which included false claims about migrants.
