Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has raised concerns about election disinformation targeting the state, specifically highlighting a viral video on social media.

The video allegedly features a Haitian immigrant claiming to have voted multiple times for Vice President Kamala Harris, but Raffensperger dismissed it as obviously fake. He believes it aims to instill unwarranted fears about Georgia’s electoral integrity.

Raffensperger noted that he is collaborating with state officials and federal authorities to investigate the video’s origins and combat the misinformation.

He urged social media platforms, including X formerly Twitter, to remove the content, suggesting it may originate from Russian troll farms, a claim supported by former Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency CISA director Chris Krebs.

The incident has drawn attention from political figures, with Amy Kremer from the Republican National Committee sharing the video and questioning how someone could possess multiple IDs.

In response, Gabriel Sterling, COO of the Georgia secretary of state’s office, criticized Kremer for spreading what he called a ridiculously obvious lie and emphasized the dangers of allowing misinformation to undermine public trust in institutions.

As early voting continues to set records in Georgia, Raffensperger stressed the importance of unity against foreign disinformation efforts, stating that Americans must not let lies divide them or compromise faith in their democratic processes.
