JACKSON, Miss. AP — Drew Snyder, the executive director of Mississippi’s Medicaid program, will resign at the end of this month to pursue a position in the private sector, as announced by Governor Tate Reeves on Wednesday.

Cindy Bradshaw, who has served as the deputy executive director since April 2023, has been selected to take over leadership of the program.

Medicaid, a health insurance initiative supported by both state and federal funds, provides coverage to low-income individuals.

As of May, approximately 684,000 of Mississippi’s nearly 3 million residents were enrolled in the program.

Snyder, a lawyer, has led the Medicaid program since January 2018 and is recognized as one of the longest-serving Medicaid directors in the country, according to Reeves.
