Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers expressed his support for former Packers quarterback Brett Favre after Favre publicly revealed his recent diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.
Evers, speaking at an event in Menasha, wished Favre well, acknowledging the challenges of the disease and mentioning that he has friends who are also affected by Parkinson’s.
Favre disclosed his diagnosis during his opening remarks at a House Ways and Means Committee hearing in Washington, where the focus was on how states are falling short in using welfare programs to assist families.
The former NFL star has repaid over $1 million in speaking fees that were part of a welfare program in Mississippi but remains a defendant in a civil lawsuit filed in 2022.
The lawsuit demands repayment for misused funds under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families TANF program, though Favre is not facing any criminal charges.
