Kansas City police are asking for the public’s help to locate the parents or guardians of a six-year-old boy who was found alone at a local grocery store.

The child, believed to be named Alexis, was discovered at the Aldi on 39th Street and Prospect Avenue on Tuesday, carrying a grocery bag, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

Alexis is described as Hispanic with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black sweatsuit over a black-and-white Champion logo shirt when found. Police say he has been nonverbal since they picked him up and believe he may have autism.

Anyone who recognizes Alexis or has information about his family is urged to contact the KCPD Juvenile Section at 816-234-5150.
