The Louisburg High School gymnasium was buzzing with school spirit Thursday evening during the first pep rally of the school year.
The bleachers were full with both students and community members who came out to show their support for the multitude of LHS sports teams and extracurricular groups.

Online social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and others have made it easy to connect to others, but it has also opened a window of opportunity for some with less-innocent intentions.
That’s one reason Louisburg Middle School principal Brian Biermann brought in a small not-for-profit group to talk to his students and their parents about safety on the Internet.
The group is called NetSmartz, which is sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence.

Wildcats roamed the Louisburg streets Saturday morning and into the afternoon. And these Wildcats didn’t mind taking baths.
The Louisburg High School band members set up in five different locations around the city for their annual car wash, which raises money for the trip students take every four years and also for smaller trips throughout the school year.
With signs and enthusiasm, the students had no problem garnering in as many vehicles as they possibly could at each location.
Senior drum major Cameron Philgreen stood on the sidewalk in front of Mr. Goodcents with a sign and his sister, Chloe, by his side. Both whooped and hollered to get the attention of those passing by.

About 130 young girls got a chance to be Louisburg High School cheerleaders Saturday morning, and their faces said it all.
With smiles, shrieks and excitement they could hardly contain, girls ranging from kindergartners to middle-schoolers gathered at the LHS gym for the LHS cheerleaders’ annual cheer camp.
Cheer coach Lenn Jamison got the girls started with some dance music and introductions of the entire Wildcat cheer squad.
From there, the girls were off in separate groups working on cheers, tumbling and dance moves for the rest of the morning and afternoon.

The first day of school means many things for freshmen at Louisburg High School. It means all new teachers, a new building, fresh curriculum and ... interestingly dressed educators.
The staff at LHS went all out this year for the What Not To Wear fashion show Aug. 18, which gives students an untraditional example of which outfits violate the dress code.
And, after seeing assistant principal Brian Boeve wearing a short skirt, blond wig and a much-too-small top covered in rhinestones, freshmen were left with a clear image of what not to wear.
