Louisburg residents are hopeful new leadership in the White House will prop up the troubled U.S. economy.

But young and old alike polled Saturday night recognized the obstacles President Barack Obama faces — wars on two fronts, unstable markets and massive job losses — are daunting.

“Who would want to be president right now? He (Obama) is going to have a tough job. The economy is horrible,” senior resident Jackie Keithly said. “I just hope what he has proposed will go through.”

Some Louisburg residents recognized President Obama will not be able to reverse massive job losses at home and end the wars abroad in Iraq and Afghanistan on his own. He will need the support of Congress and the American people.

“I know some people who did not vote for him are probably still unhappy. But no matter how you voted, it’s important that we all support the president,” Cub Scout leader Vicki DeForest said.

The Houchen sisters weighed in on the tough road ahead for President Obama.

“His hardest job will be to get the economy up (and going),” seventh-grader Crista said.

Her sister talked about troubles on another front.

The president’s toughest job will be deciding “how many troops to send and to bring back from Iraq. It will be hard,” fourth-grader Claire said.

Crista and Claire Houchen believe the president is up to the task.

“I think he will do an OK job,” Crista said. Younger sister Claire offered even more optimism. “I think he will do a good job.”

I support the President in that we need to grow the economy.

However, if what Obama's means to this end is more government control of business and more pork for his democrat friends... I oppose his methods most sincerely.
