Whether it’s playing Wii, watching a movie or hearing historical tales, Louisburg Library has an array of events for anyone looking for free activities this weekend.

The fun begins Friday night in the first of several Late Night @ the Library events. Adults are invited to come to the library from 7 to 10 p.m. and participate in activities such as Texas Hold’em and Nintendo Wii, spread out and do crafts and scrapbooking, or enjoy a book from the library’s collection.

The Late Night @ the Library events will be held the first Friday of each month throughout the year.

On Saturday, author Diane L. Rogers will visit the library at 1 p.m. to talk about her trilogy of books, “The White Oaks,” which follow her characters from the Civil War to Wounded Knee, and from the Oregon Trail to the Lakota Sioux.

The event is part of the library’s Lincoln Bicentennial celebration in February, in which there will be display items from Lincoln’s era on loan from the Miami County Swan River Museum.

Sen. Stephen A Douglas, portrayed by Fred Krebs, will visit Louisburg United Methodist Church at 6 p.m. Feb. 12, also as part of the celebration.

Then, Saturday night, families are invited to enjoy a free movie as part of the library’s Movie Club. At 7 p.m., “Fireproof” will be shown. The movie is 122 minutes long and is rated PG.

Movie Club movies are free, and everyone is invited to participate the first Saturday of each month. Bring your own snacks and vote for next month’s movie.
