A local salon is hoping to help Louisburg’s schoolchildren with their hearing through its annual holiday project.

Frankie’s Salon, 508 S. Metcalf Road, is sponsoring a fund-raiser to help Louisburg schools purchase an audiometer, which is used for hearing testing.

“It is our hometown holiday wish,” said owner Jen Hines. “A couple of years ago, we (raised money) for a defibrillator for the schools.”

Hines said the salon is trying to raise $2,000 through a holiday raffle and donations from the business.

“I heard it was a need the school was after, and it’s a good cause,” Hines said.

Raffle tickets, which are $5 each or five for $20, are available at the salon and through nurses at each of Louisburg’s schools. Frankie’s is also donating $1 from every service given at the salon towards the cause.

The fund-raiser started just after Thanksgiving, and Hines said she plans on continuing it through the end of the year, when raffle winners will be drawn.

Those who purchase raffle tickets will have the opportunity to win several prizes, including a one-year tanning package from Endless Season tanning salon, hot air balloon ride from Balloon Ad-Ventures, family photo shoot from Artistic Imaging, one year of free advertising from Graham Indoor Advertising, one year of pet grooming from Celebrity Pets, a cut, color and wax from Frankie’s, half-day inflatable rental from Grand Rental Station, $100 cash from Kelly Construction, a massage from Sheila’s Spa, Valentine’s Day rose package from Ann’s Floral, a personalized photo pendant from Angie Cramer or a flat wallet from Imagine Accessories.
